You have just received your shiny new Giffgaff SIM card? There's one more thing you need to do before you can start calling, texting and browsing! In this article, we'll tell you everything you need to know to start swiftly with your new giffgaff SIM card. We'll let you know where to get your activation code. Then, we'll carefully go through all the steps to activate your Giffgaff SIM card, with a credit card or with a voucher. Where can I get a Giffgaff activation code?

Your Giffgaff SIM card shall reach you by post in 3-5 business days if you live in Europe, or in more than 5 business days if you live in the rest of the world. It comes in an envelope with a pre-cutted piece of plastic holding your SIM card. Your activation code is at the back of this pre-cutted piece of plastic.

How do I activate my Giffgaff SIM card?

To activate your giffgaff SIM card, first, make sure you have within reach:

  • Your giffgaff 6-digit activation code. Il you have thrown it away, don't panic! You can always use the 13-digit SIM serial number at the back of your SIM card, located before "4Ggg4". Note that it can also be 16 or 19-digit long in some cases.
  • Your credit card, since you'll have to make a first payment in order to activate your giffgaff SIM card.

Then, follow theses steps:

  1. Go to Giffgaff's website.
  2. In the main menu, under Our offer, click on Activate your SIM.
  3. Enter your Activation code or your 13-digit SIM serial number and click on Activate.
  4. Register an account by entereing your valid email address and choosing a password.
  5. You'll then need to make your first payment. You may choose a monthly plan (Goodybag) or to add regular credit. To start with a monthly goodybag, simply select the one that best suits your needs. To add regular credit instead, scroll down to the bottom of the page and select Activate your SIM by topping up.
  6. Select a top-up amount, and click on Pay by card.
  7. Enter your card details and click on Activate your SIM.

How do I activate my Giffgaff with a voucher?

Activating your Giffgaff SIM card with a voucher is really simple. Make sure you follow the steps listed above, and keep your 16-digit voucher code handy. When making your first payment (step 5), scroll down to the bottom of the page and select Add regular credit. Then, click on Redeem a top up voucher. Enter your 16-digit voucher code and confirm your claim. Your SIM card should now be activated.

Converting your credit into a monthly Goodybag

If you have activated your Giffgaff SIM card with a voucher, or if you have chosen to simply add regular top-up credit when activating your SIM card with your credit card, you might want to convert your credit into a monthly Goodybag. Monthly Goodybags give you more value for your money and come packed with UK mins, texts and data. For instance, £10 gives you 6GB of UK data and unlimited UK mins and texts. To convert your credit into a Goodybag, follow these steps:

  1. Go to Giffgaff's website and click on Log in in the top menu. Enter your email address and your password and press Log in. If you're already logged in, click on My account.
  2. Then, in the My giffgaff section from the top menu, click on Buy a goodybag.
  3. Click on goodybags for calls and data allowances or on gigabag for data only.
  4. Select your monthly deal according to your needs.
  5. Then, click on I only need a goodybag.
  6. Here you can choose whether to go for a single monthly goodybag or to automatically recur it every month. You may need to register a credit card in case you wish to recur it.
  7. To use your credit, click on Using my balance and confirm by clicking on Pay with my balance.
