The Société française du radiotéléphone, SFR, is a French telecommunications operator, a branch of Altice France's telecom activities.

Wholly owned by Vivendi since 2011, it was acquired by Altice in 2014, to form the Numericable-SFR group. In 2016, SFR Group was born, a Telecom, Media and Advertising group. The Numericable brand is only used by the group for its TV channel package.

The rapid expansion of mobile Very Broadband coverage, which is historic in terms of volume, is the result of the veritable production plant designed by SFR and supported by unprecedented investments (€2.3 billion in 2016). This pace continued in 2017 and enabled SFR to cover 91% of the French population in 4G in July 2017. SFR is reaching its target more than 6 months ahead of schedule and has announced that it is on track to cover 99% in 4G by the end of 2018.

At the end of 2017, SFR covered 95% of the French population with a confirmed target of 99% by the end of 2018.

By the end of the second quarter of 2018, the operator covered 97% of the French population in 4G.

By 2018, SFR was preparing for the arrival of 5G (LTE - B).
